Pluktuin Marina Poussart

Pluktuin Marina Poussart

This site describes a collection of fruit orchards and a dedicated picking garden located in Sittard-Oost, Netherlands, with activities centered around pruning, picking, tasting, and enjoying a variety of produce. The network includes the high-stem orchard ‘De Lahrhof’ and the ‘Fruit Oppe Grens’ orchards spread along the German border, which collectively boast hundreds of fruit trees. Additionally, there is the ‘Marina Poussart Picking Garden’.

Visitors have opportunities for self-picking directly from these locations. From the ‘Fruit Oppe Grens’ orchards, one can pick apples, pears, plums, cherries, walnuts, and quince. The ‘Marina Poussart Picking Garden’ offers flowers, herbs, and small fruits for self-harvest. Seasonal walks through the orchards also allow for snacking on ripe fruit, specifically cherries in June-July, plums in August-September, and apples and pears in September-October. All self-picked fruit is organically produced and unsprayed.

Beyond self-picking, the organization sells various products made from its fruit, such as apple juice, jams, syrups (including elderberry syrup), herbal teas, and bay leaves. The site also promotes community involvement through volunteer workdays for orchard maintenance and special events like an annual ‘Juice Day’.

Lubosch Land

  • 15.1 km — limburg
Lubosch Land is a nature-inclusive family farm located in Ransdaal, Zuid-Limburg, dedicated to sustainable agriculture, biodiversity, and healthy food production. Established in 2021, the farm aims to actively contribute to a more sustainable food chain by working with nature and the local community. The farm features several key areas: A Food Forest (Voedselbos): Planted with numerous trees and shrubs since 2021, this area is designed to produce a diverse range of perennial and woody species, including fruits, nuts, seeds, leaves, and stems. While it will take many years for the forest to fully mature, the first harvests are anticipated after about five years. Currently, guided wild foraging walks are organized where visitors can learn about and taste existing wild edibles. A Market Garden (Tuinderij): Here, annual crops are cultivated entirely without pesticides, following permaculture principles and focusing on soil health. Produce grown includes various vegetables, herbs, flowers, and fruits. Specific items mentioned are collard greens, chard, beans, lettuce, kohlrabi, and different types of cabbage. Additionally, perennial fruit bushes yield redcurrants, gooseberries, Japanese wineberries, and other currants. Natural Farming Project Fields: These fields, established in 2023 and 2024, adhere to “Do-Nothing Farming” principles, emphasizing collaboration with nature and minimal intervention. Produce from the farm’s own land, including unsprayed vegetables and fruits from the market garden, is sold at the Lubosch Land Farm Shop (Boerderijwinkel). The shop, housed in a renovated former cow shed, also offers a seasonal and rotating assortment of other organic and local products like dairy, beverages, preserves, and baked goods. Customers can purchase ready-made vegetable boxes (groentetassen) for 2 or 4 people, filled with seasonal produce. If a specific item is not displayed, the farm team can harvest it fresh for customers.
