Bloemenpluktuin en Mini-kwekerij Volvelds

Bloemenpluktuin en Mini-kwekerij Volvelds

Located on the historical vegetable garden of Landgoed Keppel in Laag-Keppel, this farm, run by Marieke and Edward, offers a delightful self-picking experience alongside a mini-nursery and artisan workshop.

The highlight for visitors is the self-picking flower garden, where one can gather a vibrant selection of cut flowers. These include zinnia, cosmos, scabiosa, dahlia, cornflower, snapdragon, amaranth, statice, strawflower, sunflower, and an expanding variety of flowering perennials. All plants are cultivated without pesticides, using organic potting soil. Additionally, in spring (starting April) and autumn, young plants of both annual and perennial flowers and herbs are available for purchase.

The self-picking garden typically opens daily during daylight hours from June through September. The 2025 season has concluded, with plans to reopen for young plant sales in April 2026, and for flower picking to resume in June 2026. The operation is entirely self-service, with payment accepted via QR code, bank transfer, or cash. Options for frequent visitors include gift vouchers, punch cards, and seasonal subscriptions.

Beyond the fields, an on-site workshop produces artisanal goods. Edward crafts charcuterie using high-quality meat from the Achterhoek region, such as coppa, pancetta, guanciale, pâté, rillette, and South African biltong made from local venison. The workshop also prepares pickled vegetables, including gherkins, fennel, and peppers, and incorporates fresh herbs and vegetables from the farm into its charcuterie, pickled products, and flavored salts. These workshop products can be purchased by appointment.

The farm also participates in local events, with planned appearances at a plant market at Klein Broekhuizen in May 2026 and the Artisan Plant Market at Landgoed De Wiersse in September 2026.

What visitors say

Visitors consistently praise this self-picking farm for its beautiful and extensive selection of flowers, describing the experience as a delightful activity that results in stunning bouquets. The garden is often highlighted for its pleasant atmosphere, featuring inviting seating areas throughout. Customers appreciate the convenience of the farm being always open, with an easy QR code payment system for their picks. Many have found excellent choices even late in the season, such as in October. Although one visitor noted a more limited selection towards the very end of the picking season, they still found the grounds neat, appreciated the readily available scissors, and planned to return the following year, advising others to wear appropriate footwear if it’s wet.
