Limburg, the southernmost province, enjoys a mild climate ideal for u-pick farms with fruit, vegetables, and herbs. The province is famous for its white asparagus, cherries, and plums that you can pick yourself at fruit picking orchards. Vegetable picking gardens offer fresh asparagus, strawberries, tomatoes, and peppers, while herb gardens benefit from the warm climate with Mediterranean herbs like basil, oregano, thyme, and rosemary.

The best u-pick farms in Limburg

The Heuvelland around Valkenburg and Maastricht is the most Mediterranean corner of the Netherlands. Loess hills, a longer growing season, and intense summer sun produce fruit and flowers that arrive weeks earlier than in the north. But the Peel region in northern Limburg and the Maas valley around Venlo also have exceptional farms worth the detour.

Pluktuin De Peel is the most versatile choice in the province: tulips and alliums in spring, dahlias and autumn flowers at the end of the season, with fresh fruit and berries to complement them. Rare to find such a broad range on one farm.

Plukplaats and Pluktuin Afferden are pure flower-picking paradises, with stock that changes every week of the season — much like the light shifting over the Limburg hills.

Bloementuin Plukgeluk draws visitors with a romantic palette of lupins, cornflowers, and larkspur — flowers you rarely encounter in a florist and that make an arrangement feel genuinely handmade.

Het Akkertje rounds out the list as an apple and pear orchard — a peaceful contrast to the busier tourist routes of the Heuvelland.

Tip: asparagus season runs from late April to 24 June (St. John’s Day). Come before that date if you want to pick Limburg’s famous white asparagus — after it, you’ll have to wait another year.
